           Although Opening Day is over five months away, the management and staff of Dunn Tire Raceway Park have been hard at work crafting both their stock car and drag schedules for the 2009 season.  A complete schedule is expected to be released sometime after the first of the year, although some information about the season has already been decided.

The Stock Cars will return to the DTRP oval for approximately 15 shows next season, with Opening Day on Saturday, May 16^th.  Although the exact divisions for each show have yet to be determined, the track’s premier division – the Modifieds – will be on the schedule approximately 12 times throughout the season.  “After last year’s success with the Stock Car program and the support shown by the drivers, crew, and fans, it was an easy decision to make to expand the Stock Car schedule for 2009.  We are looking forward to an exciting season”, stated track promoter Ralph Galluzzi.

Payouts for certain divisions will also be increasing.  The SST Sportsman will now be racing for $700 to win in a move that rewards one of DTRP’s fastest growing divisions.  “We are excited about the SST purse increase and know that they competitors are as well.  This purse increase will attract an even better field of SST’s to our racetrack, increasing the level of competition for the drivers and the fans”, said Lori Overdorf, Director of Stock Car Events.

The SST Sportsman are not the only division receiving an increase at the payout window, with the fan favorite Street Stocks now paying back through the 15^th position after previously paying out the top ten, and the 4 Cylinders receiving an increase in the fourth and fifth finishing positions. 

All competitors will benefit from the re-introduction of the Ladies Pass, whereas each registered driver will have the opportunity to name one lady who will receive half price admission at each stock car event, with the exception of the season ending US Open.
